Muay-Thai classes

Muay Thai is recognized globally as the most effective striking art in the world. It is the national sport of Thailand and is based on simplicity and effectiveness. Honed over 2000 years, it is a graceful blend of punches, kicks, elbows and knees. The core of Muay Thai is its effectiveness in real situations, be it in the ring or in self defense on the street. It relies on simple and efficient movement to generate maximum power.

 

The Muay Thai classes at Lionheart are designed for fighters and complete beginners, we split the classes into 2 groups to ensure everyone gets full trainer attention. Our instructors are all champions of the sport and have hundreds of fights in experience as well as they have trained thousands of students all over Thailand. We are constantly expanding our knowledge of real Muay Thai for our own benefit and that of our students.

The classes are usually split into 2 groups: beginners and fighters. Each student gets full attention from our trainers to make sure they get the most out of the class. The classes consist of: pad work, bag work, technique and sparring.

 

Typical class would look something like this for beginners:

  • 10 min warmup (running or skipping)
  • 10 min stretching routine
  • 3 rounds shadow boxing
  • 3-4 rounds on pads with the trainers
  • 3-4 rounds on the bag
  • Optional sparring
  • Technique practice

 

For fighters/advanced :

  • 10 min warmup (running or skipping)
  • 10 min stretching routine
  • 3 rounds shadow boxing
  • 3-4 rounds on pads with the trainers
  • 3-4 rounds on the bag
  • 3 – 5 rounds sparring
  • 3 – 5 rounds clinching
  • Conditioning / technique to finish off

To participate in a class you will need shorts, t-shirt and hand wraps (available from the gym for 450thb per pair). We also recommend you bring a water bottle.

 

The rest is provided by the gym. We have shin pads, gloves and head gear for you to use.
